The Vestal Police Department consists of forty-three full time sworn officers, one part time officer, a mechanic and three civilian records clerks. The Department also employs ten civilian school crossing guards.

In addition to the Patrol Division, we have five members assigned to the Detective Division which conducts our criminal investigations and processes warrants and evidence. The Department is active in crime prevention programs and has 5 dedicated a School Resource OfficerS assigned to the Vestal Central School District.  The department is part of the Broome County METRO SWAT team and maintains its own K-9 Unit and a bicycle patrol.  We are also active in a number of county-wide juvenile intervention programs designed to assist youths and families at risk, including working closely with the Vestal School District to assist in its intervention and education programs. Our emergency dispatching services are provided through the Broome County Emergency Services Division using a state of the art enhanced 911 dispatch center.
