How do I answer my traffic ticket:

If you are charged with one or more Traffic Infractions, you have the option to plead by mail. Follow the instructions on your Uniform Traffic Ticket to enter your plea of either Guilty or Not Guilty and return your ticket to the court by mail or you can drop it off at the court office.
If you have received a Traffic Ticket for a Misdemeanor or Felony Charge, your personal appearance is required by law in the State of New York.

If you fail to respond your license may be suspended.

Upon a plea of guilty, a fine and New York State mandated surcharge may be assessed, and you will be notified by mail of the amount due and the instructions on how to make payment. Upon a plea of not guilty, you will be sent further information on how to proceed.  If you have been charged with a misdemeanor, you must appear in person on the date and time listed on the ticket.

How do I handle a parking ticket:

You must complete the bottom portion of the ticket by checking either the guilty or not guilty box. Complete with your signature, printed name, and address. Then return to this Court either in person, by mail, or place in the drop box outside of the court office entrance. If you enter a plea of not guilty, the court will schedule an appearance; you will then have the opportunity to discuss the matter with the Town Attorney. If you enter a plea of guilty, the court will notify you of your fine by mail.

I have a question regarding the Traffic Diversion Program:

The court has no part in the Traffic Diversion Program. All questions regarding the program should be directed to the Broome County District Attorney’s Office. You can visit their website Traffic Diversion Information | Broome County or call their office at (607)778-2373.
