Check out what we have in store for the future of the Town of Vestal.

Rail Trail Section III

RTP3 African Road Perspective

The Rail Trail has been a popular attraction for many residents within the Town of Vestal. It has provided an enjoyable form of exercise and social environment all while sitting atop the old railbed once used by the Delaware–Lackawana and Western Railroad. More of this railbed has been exposed and is ready for an overhaul. A new section of the Rail Trail is being constructed to span from African Road to Sycamore Road and add nearly an extra half mile to the existing length of trail. Two pedestrian paths will connect the current trail and Harold Moore Park to this new section, and the intersection of Vestal Road and Sycamore Road will be reconstructed to become pedestrian friendly. We look forward to seeing this project enjoyed by the Town of Vestal.

Main Street Bridge Replacement

Proposed Main Street Bridge Plan

This capital project improves the Main Street Bridge outside of the Weis Market with a wider and longer structure. Construction is predicted to begin in 2026, which also aims to update the Main Street at Glenwood Road intersection and pedestrian pathways. A detour route for vehicle traffic and shuttle service for foot traffic to the Weis Market will be provided to assist the public. We are confident that this project will be a major improvement to Main Street and its commuters.

Owego Road Bridge Replacement

Similarly to the Main Street Bridge Replacement, this project is focused on improving the Owego Road Bridge. The project is still in the design phase, but is also predicted to begin construction in 2026. A detour route will be provided for this replacement as well to allow access to each side of the bridge. Our department is proud to update the Owego Road Bridge for the Town of Vestal.
